Your Project for the Kamehameha III government can be done as a booklet or a comic strip. please try to use 11x16 paper. Use the flow map that has been given in class. Grades will be based off of the poster rubric as usual. Content, Org, Graphics/visual

I am moving the poster project to next qtr and will be due when when you come back from break.

Powerpoint presentations are due this WEEK!!! I am here during mornings, lunch and afterschool if you need help.

You poster is due...People have told me Mare Amare has been hard to find. I think some of the websites have taken down his info so I will give you the answer...

Mare Amare: A Scottish foreigner who was advisor to Kahekili and Kalanikupule. Helped Kahekili and Kalanikupule to get guns for their armies. He was also known as a sharpshooter who killed many enemy soldiers and chiefs in battle. His name possibly came from the name Murray the Armorer.

Look up who they are and what was their relationship to kamehameha. How did they help him or try to hurt him. A brief summary for each.

We went over most of the names in class. Research them. Grading scale in on the specs for major project.

Aloha Classes,

There will be an Exam on Hawaiian Culture, Captain Cook and Kamehameha. Test will be in four parts and multiple choice. Test will be give to Period 1 Thursday and all other period on Fri.

Booklets are almost all graded. If you would like to improve your grade on the project you may do it over for a higher grade. There were a lot of mistake even though some of the major answers were given in class. Quality is very important in all class.

There are many students who have yet to turn in their project, you need a letter of reflection signed by your parents.

All tests and quizzes may be taken for a passing grade.

Quiz will be on Fri 8/11. PLEASE STUDY HARD! Do not take it lightly. I will also allow a retake of the quiz for pass or fail but it will be on your own time and you have to make a appointment with me.

Booklet Project: The project deadline will be extended to 8/22. Please you the extension wisely.

Reminder: ANY LATE WORK FOR ANY TEACHER needs to be turned in with a letter signed by your parents. Any late work turned in without this type of letter will be disregarded.

Hawaiian Culture Booklet
In order to learn about King Kamehemeha we need to know what culture was he living in. You will create a booklet depicting the main points of Hawaiian culture. You will do the following:

A. Find the definition of the word(s) and write or type them in the booklet
B. Draw pictures or symbols to depict the definition of the word(s)

1. Cover Page: Create your own cover page with name date and period.
2. Island map: Draw all of the islands and label. Give a short description on how the islands came to existence.
3. Class System: Draw and define what is a: Ali'i (Mo'i, Ali'i Nui, Konohiki) Kahuna (ana ana and lapa'au)
4. Class System: Makaainana and Kauwa
5. Land System: Draw a picture of land division and define words. Moku, Ahupua'a, ili.
6. Draw and define Gods: Ku,Lono, Kanaloa and Kane
7.Draw and define types of Heiau: Ho'ola and Luakini
8. Demi God- Your choice. Examples Pele, Kamapua'a, Shark God,Kamohoalii, Aumakua (Family God)

Grading; 3 Grades. You will be graded using the schoolwide rubric for a poster. I will be grading you on Content, Organization and Graphic/Aesthetic Appeal.

Politicians quiz will be on Aug 11 for period 1 and august 12 for everyone else. Also the Project will be extended to the 22nd of August. NO EXCUSES for not having a good project.
