2021 July

July 6, 2021

Dear Moanalua Middle School ‘Ohana:

Welcome back to the 2021-2022 school year. I hope everyone had a relaxing and restful summer vacation with family, friends, and loved ones.  We truly experienced an interesting year, last year, and are eager to welcome back our students and staff to 100% in-person instruction.  As a proud Moanalua Complex Alumnus, it is with great pleasure to serve as your Proud Principal of this fine school.

I would like to first reiterate that at Moanalua Middle School, we are committed to the safety of our students and staff.  We continue to monitor the latest information from our state and federal agencies in regards to COVID-19 and work with our local health officials to keep our schools safe.

We encourage parents and students to continue following the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention promoted safeguards, such as conducting wellness checks at home, staying home if you are ill, proper hand hygiene, and the wearing of a protective face covering (mask) properly.

For the majority of you, this year will be a transitional year for your child and family.  The “Middle School” years may be the hardest or may be the most rewarding years of your child’s life.  They will be going through so many decision making opportunities as we push them to maximize their potential to reach their expectations.

To help with a smooth transition, we are holding New Family Orientation events on Wed., July 14th and on Fri., July 16th.  Both nights are scheduled from 6-7pm.  The same information will be shared on both evenings so you need to attend just one night. Please RSVP at moanaluamiddle.org.

As we get closer to the start of the 2021-2022 school year, information regarding 2021 Program Pick Up and Payment of Fees is enclosed with this letter, along with a campus map detailing respective locations for signups or payment of fees (i.e. Booster Clubs, Bus, Lunch Deposits, etc.).  I look forward to meeting with you when we resume our “normal” routines.

For your convenience, arrangements have been made for you to return your response and payment(s) by mail - if you are unable to make it to any of the three  program pick-up days.  We have also enclosed picture-taking and purchasing information, the School Supply List, an eTrition flier, and information about the New Family Orientation, which we will be having on Wednesday, July 14 or Friday, July 16 from 6-7pm.  Please RSVP for one of those evenings at moanaluamiddle.org.  We highly encourage parents of all new, incoming students to attend one of those evenings.
