I am a Japanese-American born and raised here on the island of Oahu.
From when I was a kid, I always loved watching cartoons and would try to draw/mimic them. Eventually this would lead me to anime/manga (Japanese cartoons/comics) and further my connection back to my Japanese heritage. Then in high school I found the medium of art I would pursue in my college years - ceramics. It was also in high school that I decided to become an art teacher due to the great teachers I had as well as to be able to help others find the value in the arts; as it surrounds us every where through music, media, etc.
Hobbies: I often sketch ideas for sculptures or just doodle. Playing games with friends that work the mind and bring collaboration/teamwork to the table as well.
I believe every student/person has the ability to create and appreciate art, but in order to do so we must look past the idea that art is purely based on talent and intuition alone.
I am honored to be a teacher here at Moanalua Middle School and will do the best to my abilities to provide a positive and engaging learning experience/environment for my students.
