Moanalua Middle School participates in an interscholastic athletics program with other middle and intermediate schools in the Central District throughout the school year. The athletics program focuses on sportsmanship and character development while instilling self-discipline, building self-confidence, fostering quality relationships and boosting school pride. Studies have shown an athletics program also improves student attendance, behavior, coursework and grades.

All student-athletes must be in good academic standing to participate. Following the high school model, no “Fs” in any core subject. While in season, there will be mandatory study hall sessions and weekly grade checks.

Parent orientation meetings are held before the beginning of each season to review the expectations of students, as well as parents.
